Melody Petitt is an experienced family law attorney licensed in the state of Texas. As an attorney handling divorce, custody and other family law cases, Ms. Petitt understands that this can be a time of high stress and anxiety. Her goal is to provide clients with an accurate legal analysis of the facts and laws relevant to each client’s case so that they are able to make informed decisions. Ms. Petitt has a passion for helping families in their time of need and she values building trust with her clients and always being honest with them.
Ms. Petitt strives to resolve client’s legal issues as quickly and efficiently as possible, while also preparing for the possibility of trial. With more than 17 years of experience practicing family law, Ms. Petitt can address complex property issues, protect business interests or handle child custody or support matters.
She successfully owned and operated her own firm in Beaumont, Texas for 12 years. In this position, she negotiated, mediated and tried many cases throughout Southeast Texas. Prior to opening her own firm, Ms. Petitt worked as an Assistant Attorney General in the Child Support Division of the Texas Attorney General’s office.
Ms. Petitt is a graduate of Baylor University School of Law. During her time at Baylor, she was a member of the Harvey M. Richey Moot Court Society and participated in Baylor’s unique practice court program designed to teach law students to try cases.
Ms. Petitt was previously a member of the Rotary Club of Beaumont, Texas. She is currently a member of the Dallas Bar Association, the Collin County Bar Association and the Collin County Women Lawyers Association. Ms. Petitt enjoys spending time with her children and fostering rescue dogs.
