More About John P. Plymire

Nearly eighteen years ago, John began his journey in the practice of law. From the early stages, it was clear John was different from your typical attorney. One of the first calls John received occurred while he was working on the engine of his 1963 Ford truck. Wearing jeans, a cut-off t-shirt and a bandana on his head, John wiped the grease off his hands and met with the client. The client was shocked to be meeting with an attorney who wasn’t wearing a suit and tie, but after retaining John, the client said it was refreshing to meet an attorney who didn’t put himself above his clients. John “cleans up real nice”, but his relatable, friendly, down-to-earth, personality remains.

John’s lovely wife commonly refers to him as “MAJ P”, an affectionate reference to his seventeen years of service in the United States Army. On active duty, John developed and refined his trial skills as a criminal attorney prosecuting and defending murder, rape, sexual assault and drug offenses. He spent a year deployed to Afghanistan with the 1/25 Stryker Brigade Combat Team, “Arctic Wolves”, earning a Bronze Star. John left active duty in September 2016 after a stint as the acting Chief of Military Justice for United States Army Cadet Command and Fort Knox. He joined Barrow Brown PLLC shortly thereafter. His extensive military experience affords him the knowledge and skill to handle a wide variety of military matters, as well as the most complicated of military divorces.

As an active duty Soldier John was routinely asked to solve complicated problems under extreme time constraints. He applies those problem-solving skills to his family law practice, working toward common sense, effective solutions for the client.

He played defensive end for Georgetown College and followed up his football career competing in amateur strongman competitions, finishing 3 rd in the heavyweight division of Kentucky’s Strongest Man in 2004 and Chicago’s Strongest Man in 2005. Each morning at 4:30 a.m. John rises to eat breakfast and head to the gym for a workout. He prides himself on staying in shape, ensuring he can keep up with the 20-year-old Soldiers he works with in the United States Army Reserve. He brings this same energy and drive to his law practice.

John and his wife, Kasey, are the proud parents of five boys and one girl. Despite their youthful appearance, John and Kasey also love to spoil their two grandchildren, giving them huge bowls of ice cream before sending them home to mom and dad. They are season ticket holders to the Cincinnati Bengals and huge fans of the Ohio State Buckeyes.
