Admitted to practice before the Supreme Courts of the United States, England & Wales, and Utah, Mr. Cook graduated from the Brigham Young University Law School in 1982. He served three years on active duty with the U.S. Navy and retired with the rank of Captain (O-6) in the U.S. Naval Reserve. He was appointed as a military judge in October 2000 and served as a General Court-Martial judge and as a judge on the Navy-Marine Court of Criminal Appeals.
Subsequent to leaving active duty, Mr. Cook was employed by the Office of Hearings and Appeals, Social Security Administration, as a staff attorney and decision writer for the administrative law judges. He received performance awards for his work in that Office.
